NEW LIFE MISSION CHURCH OF LA JOLLA was formed in 1994 as a new church plant of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). At present we are not organized as a particular congregation, but we are a chapel of the regional church, governed by the South Coast Presbytery.

As a CHRISTIAN church, we confess and believe that Jesus Christ, being very God and very man, yet one Christ, is the only Savior and hope for sinners. With orthodox Christians everywhere, we also affirm the truths confessed in the Apostle's Creed.

As a REFORMED church, we consciously identify ourselves with the Reformed or Calvinistic system of doctrine. We are wholeheartedly committed to the principle of sola scriptura, believing that the written Word of God is "the only rule of faith and obedience" (Larger Catechism, Q. 3). We affirm the Calvinistic doctrines of total depravity, unconditional election, particular redemption, irresistible grace, and the perseverance of the saints. We also embrace covenant theology and agree that the doctrine of justification–which "is an act of God's free grace, wherein he pardons all our sins, and accepts us as righteous in his sight, only for the righteousness of Christ imputed to us, and received by faith alone" (Shorter Catechism, Q. 33)–is still the article by which the church stands or falls.

As a PRESBYTERIAN church, we believe that the church must be ruled by elders (or presbyters), according to the revealed will of God in Scripture (Acts 15:1-31; 16:4,5). We belong to the denomination of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), which was formed in 1973 in Birmingham, Alabama, as a reaction to the liberalism of the Presbyterian Church in the United States (PCUS), popularly called the Southern Presbyterian Church. With renewed commitment to the Westminster Standards (Westminster Confession of Faith, Westminster Larger and Shorter Catechisms), the PCA declared its allegiance to the faithful tradition of the Protestant Reformation. With more than 1,400 churches and nearly 300,000 members, the PCA encourages evangelism, missions and Christian education worldwide.

At NEW LIFE MISSION CHURCH OF LA JOLLA, we preach to you life in Christ Jesus–your life hidden with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3). Our preaching aims to draw the believer into union with the Christ of Scripture as He is displayed from Genesis to Revelation. As the Bible is the self-disclosure of the Triune God Himself, we recognize that it is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost who are inviting the man, woman and child in the pew to participate in Their life! You are invited to come into that heavenly life . . . to move into the age to come . . . to experience what it means to live in the "not yet" now! By this emphasis, we are proclaiming that life in Christ is the most practical form of Christianity for the New Testament church.
